Hello, hello!

Welcome to the blog for Lambda Pi Eta (LPH), Sigma Phi at California State University Los Angeles.

My name is Savannah and I am the Scholastic Officer of the 2009/2010 school year. I will be your humble narrator with insight as to who we are and how you can be a part of it.

What is Lambda Pi Eta?
Lambda Phi Eta is the official communication studies honor society of the National Communication Association (NCA). The Greek letters Lambda Pi Eta represent Aristotle's teachings in his book, Rhetoric. The three ingredients of persuasion are: Logos (Lambda) meaning logic, Pathos (Pi) concerning emotion, and Ethos (Eta) which is character and ethics.

Why should I join?
"Our mission is to recognize, foster and reward outstanding scholastic achievement in communication studies, to stimulate interest in the field of communication, to promote and encourage professional development among communication majors, and to establish and maintain closer relationships and mutual understanding between speech communication studies faculty and students."

How do I join?
Membership is open to all students majoring in Communication Studies. Sigma Phi offers two types to membership: Full and Honorary. Full membership entails you maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 with 90 quarter units completed and 3.25 GPA in communication studies courses with 18 units completed.
